Prevention of accidents at work with hand tools

Hand tools are intended for general and specific uses. Both producers and user have to consider the proper choice of tools. When choosing a tool it is necessary to consider the purpose of its use. Using a wrong hand tool may result in its damage and/or injury to the user.

 

To prevent accidents at work with hand tools it is necessary to follow some basic rules:
  • use only high quality hand tools;
  • choose the hardness of the material the tool is made of according to the purpose it has been intended for;
  • use the hand tool properly;
  • use insulated tools when you work on devices under voltage;
  • use fire - resistant tool where is a danger that a fire may break out;
  • when transporting hand tools to the work place use appropriate containers, especially if you work high above ground;
  • protect blades of tools from accidental damage;
  • do not leave tools on dangerous places (for example close to moving or rotating parts of machines)
  • examine all tools before and after use;
  • mend or replace the damaged tools.
