UNIOR obtains AEO status (AUTHORISED ECONOMIC OPERATOR)

As of 16 June 2011, Unior public limited company has obtained AEO certification and thus holds the status of an authorised economic operator. At the ceremony held in the Dobrava Hotel in Zreče, the AEO certificate was presented to the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Gorazd Korošec, by the Deputy Director of the Customs Office in Celje, Mr. Boris Kastelic.
The acquired status acknowledges that Unior is a safe and reliable partner in international trade. By obtaining AEO certification, Unior has obtained the highest status that customs can award to an individual company and with that, numerous benefits in the customs clearance field.

Unior has now acquired benefits regarding customs control in regard to security and safety, which means fewer physical and documentary inspections, preferential treatment of shipments in the case of examination of goods and the choice of a control location.

In the framework of its concerted approach towards providing safety in international trade, the European Union introduced strict new procedures, intended primarily to improve the safety of the overall international supply chain.

PRESENTATION OF AEO – AUTHORISED ECONOMIC OPERATOR
Authorised economic operator status is a new area of customs work in that it assesses companies in relation to their internal business processes as well as in relation to security and safety and in terms of the integration of companies into the international economic chain. Cooperation is achieved through the system of business information in the area of preventing the global flow of illegal goods - dual use and in the fight against terrorism.

The criteria for awarding this status involves relevant records that ensure compliance with customs requirements and an adequate system of keeping business records, which enables proper customs controls and demonstrates financial solvency as well as adequate security and safety standards. The status is acknowledged throughout the entire EU and provides the possibility for a mutual recognition of this status outside the EU as well (USA, Asia).
