RC SIMIT d.o.o. (Research Centre for Modern Materials and Innovative Technologies) – Signing the Articles of Association and Holding the Founding General Meeting
On Wednesday, 20 April, directors of companies that were part of the joint consortium that was successful in the public tender of the Ministry of the Economy aimed at setting up development centres for the Slovenian economy, signed the Articles of Association in Talum in Kidričevo setting up the joint RC SIMIT d.o.o. development centre for modern materials and technologies.

The new company will conduct applied research and develop new materials and technologies for use in various products. By succeeding in the public tender, the new company obtained part of the required funds for its operation from the European Regional Development Fund. The company will obtain the remaining part of the required funds through the sale of its services.

The partners of the new RC SIMIT d.o.o. centre are Talum Kidričevo, Cimos Koper, Iskra ISD Kranj, LTH Ulitki Škofja Loka, Swaty Comet Maribor, Unior Zreče, Amit Ljubljana, Ortotip Maribor, Robotech Šmarje pri Jelšah, TC Livarstvo Ljubljana, HTS IC Ljubljana, Tecos Celje, Zavod za livarstvo Ljubljana and Telkom OT Pesnica pri Mariboru. Two internationally renowned and recognised public institutes from Ljubljana will support the new centre in its research – the Institute of Metals and Technology and the Jožef Stefan Institute.

The research activities of the new company will be oriented towards research and development of aluminium recycling processes, the development of new, modern and ecologically acceptable materials, abrasive products, the development of new casting processes and technologies, cold and hot metal forming, the mechanical treatment of metals, tool and equipment construction, the development of robotics and fast prototyping.

The company’s headquarters will be in Kidričevo. The company will implement its activities in twelve business units jointly employing 45 researchers.
The founding partners signed the Articles of Association and the Agreement on the Mutual Rights and Obligations of RC SIMIT d.o.o. partners. They appointed the company’s director and the members of the Board of Partners, also adopting a number of resolutions that are required for the company’s operation. Brane Kožuh from Talum was appointed the company’s director for a two-year term.
